Snap Developer Challenge 2021 brings the best of Snapchat to partner and developer apps and websites. It’s a great opportunity for developers to grow their audience connecting with millions of Snapchatters. Through integrations with Snapchat’s best features, app developers can quickly grow and engage users from all over the world.

Over the past few years, we’ve been humbled by the extraordinary stories and experiences built by the Snap Developer community. sendit‘s use of Creative, Bitmoji, and Login Kits helped them rise to the top of the app store. Spotify has led the way in delivering streaming audio globally and they recognized early the value of sharing the song their listener’s love into the Snap Camera with Creative Kit. And Twitter’s use of Creative Kit drove current events directly into the Snap Camera.

 Best App – Express Themselves
Snap democratizes visual communication. We want to see developers create experiences that drive Snapchatters to express themselves in fun and delightful new ways. 

 Best App – Live in the Moment
Stop planning and start doing. Snap is a messaging app that can rally friends to get out and get going. This award is for developers who can light a fire under our community.

 Best App – Learn About the World 
We want to see a user experience that teaches Snapchatters something new about the world around them. This award recognizes the best experience that educates us around an important subject. 

 Best App – Have Fun Together 
Snap is an app for best friends. This award is for the best example of an entertaining experience that promotes interaction with friends.

 Community MVP
Snapchat is about being Smart, Kind, and Creative. This award is for an individual who lives our values and supports our developer community.

REQUIREMENTS

What to Build

Build (or update) software utilizing Snap Kit that reflects Snap’s mission: “We contribute to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.”  

What to Submit

• *REQUIRED* A 3-minute demo video (hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, or Youku). Your video should include a complete walkthrough of your software and an explanation of your software’s integration of Snap Kit, features, functionality, and how it shares/reflects Snap’s mission.
• Submit your app in our Snap Kit developer portal.
• Provide a URL to your code repository for judging and testing or a link to your functioning demo.

• Utility (30%)
  Is this something that Snapchatters will want to use?
• Creativity (30%)
  How creative and unique is this integration?
• Value (30%)
  How well does the experience promote Snap’s mission?
• Design: UX & UI (10%)
  The app’s overall design and user experience.
