Ministry of Education Offers Scholarship Worth Rs 70,000 to Class 12 Graduates

The Ministry of Education, Government of India has announced a National scholarship scheme for students who have passed Class12.To provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low-income families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies.

Things to Know

  1. The scholarship scheme is for meritorious students who have a family income of less than Rs 6 lakhs per annum.
  2. The scholarship will cover a part of their day-to-day expenses while they pursue higher studies.
  3. Students who have scored above 80 per cent in their State Education Board exam are eligible to apply.
  4. Selected candidates will receive Rs 10,000 for the first three years and Rs 20,000 per annum for the following years.
  5. The scholarship can be availed by both male and female students.
  6. There are a total of 82,000 scholarships — 41,000 are allocated for girls and another 41,000 for males.
  7. Candidates pursuing diploma or distance education courses are not eligible for the scholarship.
  8. The scholarship is eligible for five years only.

Eligibility Criteria- Ministry of Education Scholarship

  • Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class XII
  • Not availing benefit of any other scholarship scheme including State run scholarship schemes/Fee waiver and reimbursement scheme are eligible under the scheme
  • Students pursuing Diploma courses are not eligible under the scheme.

Benefits

  • The scholarship is worth Rs 70,000.
  • Selected candidates will receive Rs 10,000 for the first three years and Rs 20,000 per annum for the following years.

Documents:

  1. Educational documents of student
  2. Student’s Bank account number and IFSC code of the bank branch
  3. Aadhaar number of the Student
  4. If Aadhaar is not available, then Bonafide student certificate from Institute / School and
  5. Aadhaar Enrolment ID and Scanned copy of Bank passbook
  6. If Institute/School is different from domicile state of the applicant, then Bonafide student certificate from Institute / School.

How To Apply

1: Visit the official scholarship website, select the Department of Higher education to access the “Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students”.

2: Read through the official guidelines.

3: Register as a new user by providing your details.

4: Once you have received your registration details, you can access the application form.

5: Fill out the required information, upload necessary documents and click on ‘submit’.

The last date to apply for the scholarship is 30 November 2021.

The Ministry of Education under Government of India has announced 82,000 scholarships under the National scholarship scheme for Class 12 graduates.
